The Model X's falcon wing doors and panoramic windshield require a specialist. Our certified installers handle the X's complex geometry with precision.

Imagine driving your Tesla with enhanced privacy, a cooler interior, and a sleek, customized look—all while protecting your vehicle from harmful UV rays. Our expert installation ensures your vehicle not only looks great but also offers superior comfort and protection. The Tesla Model X is one of the most complex vehicles to tint in the automotive world. The falcon wing rear doors have unique glass angles, the massive panoramic windshield extends further back than any other production vehicle, and the second-row glass panels wrap upward into the roof line. Most general tint shops decline Model X installs — at Tint Tek Plus, we've built the expertise to handle every Model X configuration correctly.

Tesla Model X Glass Configuration

Understanding the Model X's glass layout is essential to a proper tint installation.

Front panoramic windshield — extends over the front seats, largest windshield in production

Front side windows — standard laminated glass

Falcon wing door glass (2nd row) — uniquely angled, wraps into the roofline

Falcon wing door glass (3rd row) — smaller, separate panels

Rear liftgate glass — large panoramic panel

Optional full-glass roof (2021+) — extends from windshield to liftgate

About
Tesla Model X

Everything you need to know about Model X window tinting before booking your appointment.

01

The Tesla Model X creates one of the largest solar loads of any SUV in production. Its panoramic windshield — the largest in any production vehicle — extends from the base of the dashboard to the front roof seam, admitting an enormous column of direct sunlight into the cabin. Combined with the full-glass roof available on newer configurations, the Model X cabin can reach extreme temperatures in DFW summers. Ceramic window tinting is the most impactful thermal upgrade available for the Model X.

02

Every Model X installation at Tint Tek Plus uses exclusively non-metallic LLumar ceramic films. This is critical for a vehicle as sensor-dense as the Model X. The Model X uses all of Tesla's latest Autopilot sensor suite — including cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors — plus additional proximity sensors on the falcon wing doors themselves. Our non-metallic films do not interfere with any of these systems, and we maintain precise clearance from all sensor zones during installation.

03

The falcon wing door windows are the most technically challenging part of a Model X installation. These glass panels have an unusual wrap-around geometry that curves upward into the roofline — a shape that most general tint shops decline to attempt. Our installers have the training, the pre-cut patterns, and the hands-on experience to cover the falcon wing glass cleanly and completely, edge to edge, without distortion or lifting. Most shops in DFW won't touch the Model X. We've built the specific expertise to do it right.

04

The Model X's enormous panoramic windshield requires a thoughtful film selection. We apply LLumar AIR 80 — an 80% VLT, nearly-clear ceramic film — across the windshield extension that arches over the front passenger area. This provides meaningful UV protection and minor heat reduction while maintaining the essentially factory-clear forward visibility that Texas law requires and safety demands. For the rear glass, liftgate, and optional full-glass roof, LLumar IRX delivers up to 88% infrared rejection.

05

Given the Model X's total glass surface area — panoramic windshield, front side windows, falcon wing second-row panels, falcon wing third-row panels, and rear liftgate — a complete installation takes more time and material than any other Tesla. We use computer-generated cutting patterns matched to each specific Model X year and configuration, ensuring full coverage with clean factory-matching edges throughout. The result is a seamless installation that matches the Model X's premium build quality.

06

All Model X tint installations are backed by a nationwide, transferable lifetime warranty. We serve Model X owners from across Garland, Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, and all of DFW at our shop at 2518 W Kingsley Rd in Garland, TX. Due to the Model X's complexity, we recommend an early morning drop-off — a complete installation typically takes 4–6 hours. Call (972) 362-8468 to schedule.

Tesla Model X Sensor Compatibility — Guaranteed

The Model X uses all of Tesla's sensor systems plus falcon wing door sensors that detect obstacles. We maintain safe clearance from all sensor zones and use exclusively non-metallic films that preserve full sensor operation.

Tesla Model X Tinting — Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — this is one of our specialties. The falcon wing door glass has a unique wrap-around geometry that most shops won't attempt. Our certified installers have the training and materials to cover these windows cleanly.

Model X tinting is more complex than other Teslas and ranges from $450–$750 depending on film and coverage. The panoramic windshield and falcon wing doors add time and materials. Call (972) 362-8468 for an exact quote.

No — we use LLumar AIR 80 (80% VLT) or clear ExoShield for the extended windshield section. This provides UV protection and minor heat rejection while maintaining essentially factory-clear visibility.

Due to the Model X's complexity, a full tint job typically takes 4–6 hours. We recommend an early morning drop-off to ensure completion by end of day.
